On Saturday, the 3rd, they participated in a round table discussion about the work that the Fox Foundation is doing. The information was quite encouraging. The Fox Foundation differs from other granting organizations (i.e. the Federal Government) in a number of ways. One, is that scientists can apply for grants at any time, they don't need to wait for a narrow window of time. Another is that money is into the hands of the grant recipients in a matter of weeks, not months. The Fox Foundation keeps an active eye on the grants they have awarded and makes sure the money is being used as intended as well as increasing funding when a specific grant recipient needs additional funds to pursue a worthwhile line of research.
